The phrase "drinking through a fire hose" is used frequently when describing how it feels
when someone becomes a superintendent. All the previous degree and leadership experience is helpful but cannot totally prepare you to become the leader of a school corporation and community. Asking colleagues for help is valuable for specific situations, but to fully grasp the role of a school superintendent, it is invaluable to have a professional mentor. Dr. Paul Kaiser provided me with advice, suggestions, and sometimes a needed push in the right direction.
